Will Austin Gomez and AJ Ferrari impact the Team race for the 2024 NCAA Championships in Kansas City?

There has been a lot of recent events taking place in the wrestling world recently. With team USA just recently capturing men team Gold and Women team Silver at the World championships in Belgrade with individual gold medals from David Taylor, Zain Retherford, Emit Elor and Vito Arujau and many others capturing medals. Team USA had a great showing and is looking primed to capture some Olympic medals next year at the Olympic Games in Paris. With the World Championships ending last month we are approaching an exciting college season with a lot of exciting changes that took place over the off season.

After what we thought was the end of Austin Gomez career after retiring for the second time from college wrestling. We just recently heard about him coming back for his 7th season to join The Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor. This adds a lot of excitement and depth to an already very talented line up. Gomez is an exciting and dangerous wrestler who just last year beat 4x NCAA Champion Yianni Diakomihalis early in the season. This was Yiannis second college loss as he ended his career with an impressive record of 115-2. We know Gomez will be in the running to win his first NCAA title this season if he can stay healthy and be his explosive and dangerous self. The question is who stands in his way?

There is another name that has been away from college wrestling for awhile and that is 2019 NCAA Champion AJ Ferrari. We recently heard that the cases against Ferrari have been dropped and this leaves the question everyone has been wondering. Is he going to join his brother at the University of Iowa? This comes after rumors of the gambling allegations that caused loss of eligibility of a few Iowa wrestlers might be dismissed and they might retain their eligibility. If this is the case Iowa may be able to take out Penn State and Michigan to win the NCAA championships. Will AJ Ferrari join the Hawkeyes and if he does will they be able to take out the notorious Penn State Nittany Lions?
